A form of Traditional Chinese Medicine external therapy used to correct structural misalignment of bones and abnormalities in soft tissues.
Manipulation is a TCM hands-on treatment used to address structural and soft tissue conditions known in TCM as “Gu Cuo Feng” (bone misalignment) and “Jin Chu Cao” (soft tissue displacement).
From the perspective of TCM Trauma therapy, these structural and soft tissue problems are considered major causes of pain. Acute injuries, chronic strain or even exposure to cold may lead to inflammation, swelling, spasm or displacement of fascia, tendons and ligaments. These changes can also affect joint alignment and disrupt the flow of Qi, blood circulation and the meridians.
This therapy mainly uses hands-on techniques, sometimes together with tools such as fascia release pens or Gua Sha boards to help restore normal alignment and soft tissue function. Because the bones, joints and surrounding soft tissues influences one another, soft tissue therapy and bone alignment techniques are usually applied together. For this reason, treatment may sometimes focus on other related areas of the body instead of only the painful spot itself, as the root cause of pain may come from a different area.
(Note: Some symptoms related to irritation or imbalance of the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system caused by spinal joint misalignment may improve with this therapy. However, symptoms not related to spinal joint dysfunction may not be suitable for this treatment and should be assessed by the TCM Practitioner first)

Some conditions may improve after a single session, while chronic or more complex cases may require treatment over several months. Please consult the physician for a personalised assessment.
