OVERVIEW OF SERVICES

Paediatric Tuina

A non-invasive and gentle acupressure technique specifically designed for young children to stimulate flow along meridians without needles, to support relaxation, digestion, sleep, and overall wellbeing.

Paediatric Tuina is a specialised form of Traditional Chinese Medicine massage designed for children. Using gentle and rhythmic techniques on specific areas of the body and acupoints, practitioners aim to support the child’s natural balance and wellbeing without the use of acupuncture needles.

Digestive concerns:
Occasional bloating, constipation, loose stools, reduced appetite, or digestive discomfort.

Sleep and relaxation:
Difficulty settling, restlessness, or occasional sleep disturbances.

Respiratory wellbeing:
May be used as complementary support for children experiencing recurring respiratory discomfort, subject to practitioner assessment.

General wellbeing:
May support relaxation, circulation, appetite, and overall balance as part of a personalised TCM wellness plan.

Paediatric Tuina uses gentle manual stimulation to support circulation, relaxation, digestive function, and the body’s natural regulatory processes. Treatment is adapted to the child’s age, constitution, symptoms, and comfort level.

  • Initial consultation with the parent or guardian
  • TCM assessment, including observation and, where appropriate, pulse and tongue assessment
  • Gentle acupressure techniques applied to selected areas and acupoints
  • Treatment is adjusted according to the child’s age, condition, and comfort
  • Duration: approximately 20–45 minutes, depending on age and treatment plan
  • Sensations: gentle rubbing, pressing, rolling, or warmth

After treatment:

  • Encourage the child to drink sufficient water
  • Allow adequate rest following treatment
  • Keep the child warm and comfortable
  • Follow any personalised dietary or lifestyle recommendations from the practitioner
  • Children with high fever or acute illness requiring medical attention
  • Children with active skin infections, open wounds, or significant inflammation at the treatment area
  • Children experiencing unexplained or severe symptoms
  • Children with recent injuries or surgery, unless cleared by an appropriate healthcare professional
  • Parents or guardians should inform the practitioner of any existing medical conditions or medications

Depending on the child’s individual needs, Paediatric Tuina may be combined with:

  • Paediatric-friendly TCM dietary recommendations
  • Herbal medicine where appropriate and prescribed by a qualified practitioner
  • Gentle moxibustion techniques where suitable
  • Lifestyle and sleep guidance for children and parents
