OVERVIEW OF SERVICES

Gua Sha

A Traditional Chinese Medicine therapy that uses scraping technique to promote circulation, release tension and support natural healing.

Gua Sha is a scraping technique that uses a smooth-edged tool to gently stroke the skin, typically along the back, neck and shoulders.

In TCM terms, pain and illness are caused by the stagnation of Qi (vital energy) and Blood in the body’s Meridians (energy pathways). Gua Sha intentionally creates Sha (temporary red or purple spots) by stimulating microcirculation. This supports the body’s natural healing processes and restores balance.

This treatment is highly recommended for individuals experiencing:

  • Chronic pain or stiffness (especially in the neck, shoulders, and back)
  • Fatigue and low energy levels
  • Poor blood circulation
  • Headache or migraines
  • Frequent colds or lowered immunity
  • Stress, tension and physical burnout
  • Post-exercise soreness or lactic acid buildup
  • Alleviates Pain and Tension: Instantly relaxes tight muscle knots and fascia.
  • Boosts Circulation: Drastically improves blood and body Qi flow to restricted areas.
  • Promotes Detoxification: Helps to clear heat in the body.
  • Enhances Immune Function: Stimulates the body’s natural anti-inflammatory and healing responses.
  • Reduces Stress: Calms the nervous system to promote deeper relaxation.
  • Consultation: A session with our TCM practitioner to access your overall health condition.
  • Treatment Process: A soothing herbal oil is applied, followed by scraping strokes using a specialized Gua Sha tool.
  • Duration: Approximately 20-30 minutes depending on areas.
  • Sensation: You will feel a firm, scraping pressure and a sensation of localized warmth. It may feel slightly tender over tight muscle knots, followed by an immediate sense of lightness and relief.
  • What to do: Keep the treated areas covered and warm. Drink plenty of warm water.
  • What to avoid: Avoid cold showers, swimming, direct wind or air-conditioning, cold drinks, heavy exercise and drinking alcohol for 2 hours after the session.
  • Expected reactions: The red/purple Sha marks are completely normal and indicate toxin release. They are not bruises and will fade naturally within 3 to 5 days. You may also feel a mild, pleasant tiredness after the session.
  • Pregnant women
  • Individuals with bleeding disorders or those taking blood-thinning medications
  • Anyone with open wounds, sunburns, active skin infections or severe inflammation
  • Patients with severe cardiovascular conditions or extreme physical frailty
